CEU Senate

The Senate consists of the President and Rector, the Academic Pro-Rector and representatives of the faculty and the student body of the university. The Rector chairs the Senate, which meets at least three times in a year.

The Senate considers and makes recommendations concerning all matters of general university interest, and it establishes, approves or initiates academic programs. The Senate establishes academic standards, and standards of admission. It elects the Pro-Rectors upon proposal of the President and Rector. It adopts standing rules concerning academic positions, appointments, possible tenure, academic duties, student rights and academic procedures, subject to approval of the Board of Trustees.

Committee on Strategic Development

Advises the Senate and the Rector on university strategic planning matters

Quality Assurance Committee

Initiates annual review of faculty and academic units. Advises the Senate and the administration on university-wide academic quality matters. Serves as an appellate body from decisions on academic matters, which have been taken by the departmental or central administration, and which are not in the purview of other Senate committees

Curriculum Committee

Oversees syllabi and curriculum, advises departments on cross-listed courses, analyzes weather the curricula reflect the university's interdisciplinary ambitions and make recommendations accordingly

Enrollment Trends Committee

Reviews institutional policies and practices related to student recruitment, enrollment management, and the overall student experience, with a specific focus on the influence of the student experience on CEU's capacity to attract prospective students. makes recommendations on student recruitment strategies as well as policies and procedures designed to enhance the overall student experience.

Equal Opportunities Committee

Monitors the proportionate representation of women and men in the operations of the university

Grievance Committee

Makes proposals to the Senate relating to rules affecting the equal and fair treatment of each member of the University community, sits as an appellate body from the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee.

Academic Travel Grants Committee

Advises the Senate and the CEU Library on the expansion and improvement of CEU's Library collections

Computer Committee

Advises the Senate and other CEU decision-making bodies on issues related to the computing services of CEU, determine CEU's policy regarding the development of computer hardware and software systems and the rules of using them, oversee the allocation of computing-related resources

Scholarships Advisory Committee
