Departmental Workshops
Miklos Sukosd (POLS) and the Center for Media and Communication Studies (CMCS) at CEU will bring together scholars, policy experts, NGO campaigners, ICT activists and media professionals from all over Europe for the workshop "Data Retention on the Internet: Challenges for small, alternative and citizen-based Internet Service Providers". Participants will analyze new policies on data retention and discuss strategies for maintaining and enhancing privacy and free communication. The Department hosted a Qualitative Data Analysis workshop, held by Liz Spencer from University of Essex on 4-5 April 2007. This two day instensive workshop was designed to give participants an overview of different approaches to qualitative data analysis, introducing key principles and approaches. Participants were able to analyse samples of interview data using both 'manual' and computer assisted methods.
The 2007 Annual Doctoral Conference of the Department of Political Science ran 2-3 April 2007. The event was opened with a public lecture by Prof. Anton Pelinka, from Nationalism Studies and Political Science.
