The Department of Political Science at the Central European University, Budapest announces a search for Program Coordinator.
Central European University (www.ceu.hu) is an English-speaking graduate research-intensive university specializing primarily in the social sciences and humanities, located in Budapest, Hungary and chartered as a degree-granting institution both in the United States and in Hungary. The Department of Political Science (http://www.ceu.hu/polsci) offers both Master’s and doctoral programs.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for:- Coordinating the department's activities regarding the MA and PhD programs
- Liaison with departmental contacts within and out of the university
- Administration of the department’s different programs
- Answering general enquiries or redirect them to the responsible officer or faculty member
- Organizing the admission process, schedules, and course readers
- Data processing, filing, copying, shipping/delivery
- Preparing and providing assistance in the organization of departmental events
- Preparing departmental meetings, preparing materials, taking the minutes
- Organizing social activities, trips for students
- Organizing travels, meetings for professors
- Administering departmental programs for visiting researchers, etc.
- Maintaining the departmental website
- Supporting teaching activities of the department
- Help in financial management of departmental funds
- Compiling reports and evaluations and maintaining student records
- Supporting the activities of the Departmental Academic Coordinator
- Additionally, the MA Program Coordinator is required to fulfill other duties defined by the head of department or senior departmental staff that conform to general university regulations.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Fluent oral and written English and Hungarian
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- A strong interest in and ability of working with students
- A thorough knowledge of the MS Office suite
- Previous administrative experience
- Familiarity with SAP software (preferable)
- Web design skills (preferable)
- University Degree (preferable)
- Flexibility in working hours
- A high- level of confidentiality
- Multicultural orientation and be open-minded.
The chosen applicant will be required to start work as soon as possible. A one-year commitment is required with, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees, a possibility of reappointment. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
