How to Apply for MA?

1. Master of Arts in Political Science (MA); one-year [US accreditation]

The program invites students who wish to develop the analytical skills necessary to achieve excellence in political philosophy, democratization and regime change, constitutional politics, political economy, media, voting behavior, party politics, human rights, and Europeanization in a comparative manner. CEU welcomes applications from individuals from all over the world. Admission to the Department of Political Science is based upon an overall evaluation of the candidate, including: academic achievement, strength of recommendations, English language proficiency and general compatibility with the aims of the department.

Students seeking admission to the Political Science Department’s MA program must meet the general CEU admissions requirements. Successful applicants usually hold a first degree in economics, history, law, political science or sociology, although other degrees will be given equal consideration.

All applicants must submit the following:

· a 100-word statement of purpose describing the reason(s) why they are applying to the program;

· a short (approximately 500 words) exposition of an issue or problem in political science in which they are interested; and

· samples of previous writings and/or a list of scholarly publications and relevant research experience (as applicable). Note that these materials will not be kept, commented on, or returned by the department.

2. Master of Arts in Political Science (MA); two-years [double accreditation: Hungarian and US]

The admission requirements are equivalent to the requirements of the U.S. accredited MA program. Besides the documents specified above, applicants with a Hungarian citizenship, who want to enter the Hungarian accredited two-years MA Program in Political Science (Politikatudomány mesterszak) are requested to fill in an official Hungarian application form (available from www.felvi.hu) by March 2012.

Application Deadlines:

January 25, 2012 - General Application Deadline.

Admission decisions for the MA programs will be sent out starting April 5, 2012.
