The Executive Committee constitutes the management of the university.
As such it is in charge for the overall coordination and control
of the university's daily operations and also for ensuring adequate
strategic planning, in cooperation with the appropriate university
fora.
Members of the Planning and Budget Committees are the President
and Rector, the Academic Pro-Rector, the Executive Vice-President
and the Academic Secretary.
The President and Rector is the chief corporate and executive officer
of the university, and exercises supervision and direction of all
university activities. He or she is responsible to the Board of
Trustees for the administration and operation, and the educational
policies, except for matters which are assigned by the University
By-Laws or by a resolution of the Trustees to the bodies of the

The President and Rector organizes the teaching sites and departments
of the university, implements academic programs on the level of
the university, and promotes academic excellence. He or she reports
to the Board of Trustees and is responsible for the educational
policies as well as for the administration and operation of the
university.

The Academic Pro-Rector assists the President and Rector with the
supervision and direction of the university's educational and general
development. The Academic Pro-Rector represents the university and
acts in lieu of the President and Rector in the absence of the President
and Rector.
Current Academic Pro-Rector: Laszlo Matyas
The Academic Secretary is responsible for the coordination of a
wide range of academic activities at the university and acts as
the Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees. The Academic Secretary
coordinates academic appointments, and reviews and promotes procedures
for academic staff, accreditation and registration processes. He
or she further manages program and department reviews, and coordinates
CEU's international academic cooperation. He is also responsible
for the academic side of the database at the university.
