Contextualising behavioural change in energy programmes involving intermediaries and policymaking organizations working towards changing BEHAVIOUR (CHANGING BEHAVIOUR)
CHANGING BEHAVIOUR is an innovative FP7 project to survey, analyse and evaluate residential and small to medium enterprise (SME) energy demand side management (DSM) programmes. The project addresses a significant research gap by analysing the behavioural aspects of energy demand. It is also designed to enhance close cooperation between researchers and practitioners with the purpose of establishing a practical tool to facilitate more effective DSM programmes for changing energy use.
The project is funded by the European Union FP7 Programme, and coordinated by the National Consumer Research Centre (Finland).

The Sustainable Technologies And Combined Community Approaches Take Off (STACCATO)
project sets out to demonstrate sustainable energy concepts in residential areas in three capital cities of the European Union, Budapest, Amsterdam and Sofia. The project includes uniquely complex renovation projects applying a combination of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources. As a result, the STACCATO project is expected to result in more than 50% energy savings compared to standard renovation projects.
CEU is responsible for the coordination of non-technological research in the scope of the project, encompassing the study of social and economic aspects of the renovation activity, as well as the investigation of policy planning questions.
The project is funded by the European Union FP6 Programme, and coordinated by Eneco and Ecofys.

Assessment of policy instruments for reducing GHG emissions from buildings
The project aimed at assessing 20 commonly used policy instruments (for example building codes, energy efficiency obligations, subsidies and information campaigns) for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings according to their emission reduction effectiveness and cost-effectiveness as well as factors for success. The assessment was based on case studies of implemented policy instruments from over 50 countries.
As part of the project, currently an online Quick Scan Tool is being developed to assist decision makers on various levels of government in creating policy packages consisting of the assessed policy instruments. The aim is to help them create policy packages that are most appropriate to their local context. The Quick Scan Tool contributes to identifying barriers that they will face related to implementation of these measures, connections of energy efficiency measures to their other policy goals and the specific characteristics of the relevant jurisdiction/state/country that are related to energy efficiency policies.

Environmental Policy Integration and Multi-Level Governance (EPIGOV)
CEPL is a partner with 17 other European institutions in this project funded through the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission. The overreaching objective of EPIGOV is to create a process that can document the progress of research on EPI and governance in a way that is coherent, and in the process generate new research impulses in this area.
