Dr. Culbard is a Senior Environmental Specialist in the Environment and Social Review Unit of the International Finance Corporation, where she works on the due diligence requirements for global infrastructure and communication investments. Prior to her time in Washington, she worked for a major environmental consultancy organization as International Development Director for their European and Asian Operations. Throughout her career, Elisabeth has worked on major high profile multi-disciplinary environmental infrastructure projects. Another key job was that of Environmental Manager for the Eurotunnel project where she was responsible for the development and implementation of environmental and social mitigation measures during the design and construction of the project. Line Mr. Line co founded csr network ltd in 1999 and is a recognized expert in strategy, reporting, verification and communications. His client work has involved the development and implementation of environmental and social strategies for corporate organizations including work for Hess Corporation, British Airways, Balfour Beatty and the UK Cabinet Office. He has been actively involved in the development process surrounding the Global Reporting Initiative. Under contract to GRI, he drafted guidance on preparing sector based sustainable development indicators linked to publication of the June 2000 guidelines. Mark is a member of the GRI Verification subgroup. Mark also participated in the annual Multi-lateral Financial Institutions meeting held in London in September 2000, at which he presented a paper on global reporting initiatives commissioned by IFC. Mark has acted as independent external verifier for the corporate environmental and social reports produced by clients that include Unilever, British Airways, Railtrack, Amerada Hess, Tarmac, Carillion and a number of UK based power and water utilities. He has worked extensively on international commissions in the USA, India, Nigeria, Pakistan South Africa, Taiwan, Bahrain, PRC, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and throughout Europe. GRI Secretariat - Project Manager. Dr. Lessidrenska is the GRI Coordinator of the VWG, and she leads the NGO outreach at the GRI. Dr. Lessidrenska holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Management. She has more than ten years experience in environmental protection, civil society, and sustainable development in transitional economies. During the past six years Dr. Lessidrenska has worked with international organizations, NGOs and small and medium enterprises throughout the world on building coalitions of partner organizations, project design, training and program evaluation. For example, she has worked on the establishment and development of the Environmental Management Training Centres (EMTCs) in Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Russia and Ukraine, a project funded by US AID and the US EPA. She has a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Management from the Technical University of Chemical Technology in Sofia, Bulgaria. She has various publications about the environmental issues in the Bulgarian Glass Manufacturing corresponding with use of As(iii)oxide, and has developed and taught courses in industrial environmental protection and environmentally sound municipal management in Bulgaria. Novo Nordisk Ms. Kingo joined Novo Nordisk in 1988. She is a chairman of the Core Faculty in the HRH Prince of Wales Forum for Business and the Environment at Cambridge University, a Board member of Business on Social Responsibility forum (USA) and a liaison delegate in the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). Lise has frequently been a lecturer in international business schools and universities on sustainable development and stakeholder relations. In 1998 she received the Tomorrow MagazineÃs Environmental Leadership award. Co-operative Bank Paul Monaghan joined The Co-operative Bank in 1994 and established the Bank's Ecology Unit. The Unit's activities cover three principal areas: operational performance, business development and corporate affairs. Initiatives include a biodegradable credit card, an environmental advice centre for business, various preferential banking services for environmental business, a carbon-offset mortgage and the development of safeguards to ensure that customers money is not invested in companies or projects which might conflict seriously with the BankÃs ecological mission statement. Late in 1997, Paul established a Partnership Development Team - tasked with assessing the degree to which The Co-operative Bank delivers value to a range of Partners (e.g., staff, customers, local community, etc.) and whether value is delivered in an ecologically-sound and socially responsible manner. In April 1998 the Team produced a groundbreaking first Partnership Report: this was commended as the best social and stakeholder report in both the UK and Europe. The third Report has been commended in 2001 as both the best environmental report and best social report in the UK. Paul is an elected member of the Council of the Institute for Social and Ethical Accountability. He also represents the business sector on the North West Regional AssemblyÃs Sustainability Strategy Group. Paul is a biological & biochemical sciences graduate, and, as part of a PhD, studied the recognition, ingestion and digestion of food by protozoa resident in the rumen of herbivores! He is also a supporter of Wigan Athletic, an unfamiliar club who informed commentators believe will soon emerge as one of the giants of European football.
An Australian national, since 1975 Paul Hohnen has worked intensively in the field of multilateral diplomacy as a diplomat, international civil servant and a director of the world's best known environment organisation, Greenpeace. Trained as an international lawyer, from 1975 to 1989 Hohnen worked for the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, serving both in Canberra and in the Australian missions to the OECD, the EU and to Sri Lanka, where he was Deputy High Commissioner. The first legal adviser to the South Pacific Forum secretariat in Fiji, he is an expert in international organization processes and decision-making. From 1989 to May 2001 he worked with the Greenpeace organisation. As the head of its official delegation to the UN negotiations on ozone and climate protection (1989 - 1992), and later as Director of international affairs (1993-1998), Hohnen was closely involved in shaping Greenpeace's relationship with the United Nations, governments and the business sector, as well as its coordination with other non-government organisations. In May 2001, Hohnen established a consultancy firm in Amsterdam focusing on providing strategic advice on global environmental governance and policy challenges to a range of government, corporate and NGO clients. A special focus of his practice focuses on analysis of the potential for innovative multi-stakeholder approaches to environmental problems. His clients include the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). Hohnen has been a keynote speaker at a variety of high-level business fora including the 2001 Nokia Environmental Forum, the 2001 OECD Forum, the Coalition for Environmentally Responsible Economies (CERES), the Global Panel, the European Investment Bank Forum and the Prince of Wales Business and Environment Seminar. His work has been referred to favorably in a number of recent books and magazines. Regional Manager - Henkel Mr. Bergmann is Regional Manager in Henkel's Sustainability Communication Organization at Corporate Level with responsibilities for Eastern Europe, Africa/Near East and America. He holds a M.Sc. in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London and has been involved in a variety of environmental and sustainability reporting projects since 1995, including outreach activities for the GRI in Germany. Mr. Bergmann working at Henkel's Annual Sustainability Report as well as Internet Reporting. Furthermore, he coordinates the group wide data collection systems for Henkel's core performance indicators at worldwide production sites. Prior to joining Henkel he worked as a Researcher and Consultant at the Institute for Environmental Management at the European Business School, in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany. Henkel is a worldwide specialist for consumer products and technologies with operations in over 75 countries and headquarters in Dusseldorf, Germany. With over 60,000 employees, the Company generated sales of 12,8 billion euro in 2000. Henkel is the market leader in Adhesives and Surface Technologies on a worldwide scale. In Laundry & Home Care and in Cosmetics/Toiletries, Henkel holds a leading position in Europe. Henkel is founder member of the WBCSD with a long standing commitment to sustainable development and public reporting since the early 1990s.
Dr. Edward Bellinger is a professor of CEU and the University of Manchester, UK. For a number of years he directed the M.Sc. course in Environmental and Pollution Control in Manchester and was the Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at CEU. Dr. Bellinger is a member of the Department of the Environment Standing Committee of Analysts (UK Government Committee) and the Editorial Panel for the Journal Institution of Water and Environment Management. He is author of numerous environmental courses, including ones delivered in Kazakhstan, Siberia, Mongolia and elsewhere on ecology, water pollution, waste water treatment and environmental standards.
Dr. Cherp holds a M.Sc. and a Ph.D. degree in Environmental Assessment from the University of Manchester, UK. Prior to joining the CEU faculty, he has directed the NIS operation of Ecologia and was one of the founders of Ecoline in 1995. Dr. Cherp is EcologiaÃs representative to TC 207 of ISO 14000 and a member of the working group on the International Strategic Environmental Assessment Protocol. He is the author of the forthcoming Sustainability and Transition publication of the UNDPÃs Capacity 21 programme. Dr. Cherp is also a member of the Editorial Board of Impact Assessment and Project Appraisal. He has served as an environmental and sustainable development consultant for WHO, UNICEF, UNDP, and USAID in the NIS and other regions. |
