Dr Richard Gale will deliver his third lecture On SOTL at the CEU which is open to interested community members.

The second year of the SOTL Fellowship Program will start with a Writing Residency (Sept 15-20), eight scholars (returning and new) will design or rewrite their SOTL projects and papers in a collaborative workshop, facilitated by dr Richard Gale (former Carnegie Foundation Senior Scholar and director of Carnegie academy for the scholarship of Teaching and Learning, currently developing SOTL in Canada).
The workshop on Quality in Doctoral Education took place in Lviv, Ukraine in December 15-16, 2007. This workshop, part of the CRC series “Workshops on the Doctorate” concerned the future of the post-Soviet doctoral degree (with a focus on Ukraine, Moldova and Belorus). Three members of CEU team were present at the Convening in Washington on 8 November 2006. The meeting was very useful in integrating us into the Carnegie Program and finding out how our colleagues in the thematic group see some of the many connections between SoTL and Graduate Education. We have begun collaboration with the idea of linking and exploring our approaches. We agreed to meet in Ireland (Cork) in 2007 and in US (Washington) in 2008. The first SoTL Writing Residence took place in July 2006 (3-7) at CEU with a group of faculty graduating from the Course Portfolio Pilot Project and the was facilitated by Joanna Renc-Roe and Richard Gale. The group consisted of 10 faculty-alumni of the Pilot Course Portfolio project. The papers produced by the faculty will be available on this website soon.
The project of CEU's Curriculum Resource Centre entitled 'Changing the learning/teaching paradigm in the post- communist higher education through experiments in the scholarship of teaching and learning' has been selected for the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) - Institutional Leadership Program.
