Aim of the course: to help students gain managerial skills especially in tourism and hotel business, to clarify the managerial functions of tourism planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling, to learn important international experience, career opportunities

Methods used: to help students better understand and process the information a number of pedagogical features could be integrated:

  • At the beginning of each topic there is the Learning Objectives alerting students to important concepts that will be covered.

  • A short Introduction sets the scene and provides some context for what students are supposed to learn.

  • When appropriate, boxes, tables, illustrations, photos, and Internet sites have been included to help illustrate important points and ideas.

  • Each topic concludes with a Summary to help reinforce what students have learned.

Three types of exercises could be provided to gauge student understanding of the subject matter:

the questions For Review and Discussion test student recall of important topic concepts and include some critical thinking questions;

the Case Problems present hypothetical situations that require students to apply what they have learned. They can be used for written assignments or as the catalyst for class discussions;

Internet Exercises increase student's familiarity with technology by having them visit important travel and hotel industry web-sites and answer questions based on their investigations.
