COURSE DESCRIPTION

The course will examine the most significant payment and performance problems involved in international business transactions. It will focus on the identification and minimalization of the principle risks that are present in transnational contracts. Particular emphasis will be place in analysing the special problems in the Central - Eastern European legal environment. Within this framework selected topics will cover: types of risks in export contracts and other international transactions - foreign currency exchange risk - securing payment - guarantees, bonds and stand by letter of credit.
