Silva MeznaricProject Pursued within the Blue Bird Silva Meznaric was educated in Zagreb (Gymnasium, Law School - Zagreb University), at the University of Chicago, and at the Ljubljana University (Faculty for Sociology and Political Sciences) where she obtained her PhD in Sociology in 1984. Presently she is the Research Counselor of Institute for Migration and Ethnicity Research, Zagreb, Croatia; and an Associate Professor of the Faculty of Letters and Arts, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. She also acts as the organizing director of graduate course on Dividing Societies at Inter-university Center for Advanced Studies, Dubrovnik, Croatia. She was a Fulbrigth Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Madison and Claremont College in 1992. She was the founder and Head of the Humanitarian Expert Group (HEG) Project on Forced Migration in 1992 -1996. She was a fellow at Smithsonian Institution, receiving Woodrow Wilson's Center Fellowship in 1984. Her current and recent research activities and projects include forming data base on violence against women in the Center for Women War Victims in Zagreb and Teaching Methods in Social Research at University of Ljubljana, Department for Sociology of Culture. She recently edited two books which are forthcoming in 2001: Divided Societies: Evaluation of the Decade 1989-1999, and Ethnicity and Stabilization of Europe in Twenty-First Century. |
