Venelin I. GanevPapers Venelin I. Ganev is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the Department of Government and International Studies at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN, USA; and a Member of the Advisory Board at the Centre for Liberal Strategies, Sofia, Bulgaria. He holds a PhD in political science, received at the University of Chicago in 2000. His dissertation was entitled "Preying on the State: Political Capitalism after Communism." His research interests include East-European, Balkan, and Russian politics and history; transitions to democracy; theories of state formation; democratic theory; constitutionalism and the rule of law in Europe; and ethnic politics in contemporary European context.
