Alumni Student Recruiters

Dear Alumni,

We are in the most active phase of the recruitment and advertising campaign for CEU and would like to ask for your kind assistance in the recruitment efforts, by spreading the word about CEU, its programs, and the financial aid.

The financial aid offered by CEU to its students has significantly increased. The regular PhD stipend is around 700 euro/month/person (182.000 forints), the stipend for students at the Economics Department is around 1000 euros/month/person (250.000 forints). There are also Erasmus Mundus programs at three of our departments (Environmental Studies, Public Policy and Gender Studies) with generous scholarships from EU.

The amount of the MA stipends also changed. Both Full and Partial MA scholarships cover tuition, medical insurance and accommodation in the CEU Residence Center. In addition to these, scholarship recipients are awarded a monthly stipend (from 33.000 forints up to 90.750 forints based on merit) which is covered directly by the university.

Recruitment Season 2008 in Ukraine and Armenia

On October 10, 2008 for the third consecutive year, Armenian alumni, led by Aida Ghazaryan (LEGS '00), represented CEU at the 13 th Educational Information Fair organized annually in Armenia. This one-day national event is open to the public and offers a variety of information on US and other countries' study opportunities. Participants had a chance to meet with representatives of the universities, alumni and several organizations that fund or administer exchange programs.

Individual CEU departmental packages were prepared on the spot and handed to those who approached the CEU booth. A promotional movie on CEU (2006) was screened and two Alumni from different years and departments had presentations and answered questions from the audience. Some specific queries regarding the departments have been taken for referral to appropriate alumni. This year twice as much more CEU Armenian Alumni participated in the Fair, and more potential applicants were attracted to the CEU stand due to effective recruitment efforts. Hope that as in the previous year, some of the visitors to the CEU stand at the Fair will make it to the final selection and have the opportunity to study at CEU!

On 14-16 April 2008, alumni participated in CEU recruitment events in Kyiv and Donetsk, Ukraine. A lot of alumni who wanted to share their experiences with future CEU students participated in the student recruitment events at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, the State University of Finance and International Trade (Kyiv) and the Donetsk National University.
