Career Fair, May 16, 2008
The largest annual career-related CEU event, the Career Fair, took place this year on May 16, bringing together employers from Hungary, United Kingdom, Belgium, Austria and Czech Republic. Besides more than 15 multinational corporate players coming to meet the students, for the first time, advocacy groups and not-for-profit international organizations were impressively represented as well.
Students benefited from personal meetings and interviews with the employers’ representatives, individual career counseling, interactive presentations and lottery programs throughout the day. These completed their previous trainings regarding CV writing and job interview skills, all aimed to prepare the students for pursuing, after graduation, one of the more than 100 advertised job or internship positions. Half of the participant companies were long-time partners for the Career Fair, motivated by the outstanding attributes of the CEU students for the regional labor market: language skills, international experience and high adaptability in new environments.
ARCS is committed to customizing its services for the recruiters’ needs, and the Career Fair is probably the most visible example. The first step towards this goal was creating a targeted recruitment presence for the Austrian company Schönherr, who became Partner and Strategic Sponsor for the ARCS programs in 2008. Not by coincidence, this law company has employed so far several CEU alumni, at different European offices, and aims to attract the best performers in the future. This model will be soon applied to other employers, for the benefit of the CEU graduates .
